Karnataka Govt Proposes Merging Tumakuru with Bengaluru City🏙️
Urban Expansion Fuels Merger Proposal📈
Parameshwara highlighted Bengaluru's rapid urban growth, stating that Tumakuru, situated just 30 km beyond Nelamangala, naturally fits within the city's ever-expanding boundaries.
“With Bengaluru expanding quickly, nearby districts like Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Kolar, and Chikkaballapur are also becoming part of the urban sprawl,” he told reporters. “For global recognition, the name 'Bengaluru North' is easier to associate with than Tumakuru. Hence, this move is under consideration.”
14 Gram Panchayats to Join BBMP🗺️
The Home Minister confirmed that a detailed proposal has been drafted to bring 14 gram panchayats under the jurisdiction of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
Ramanagara Already Merged with Bengaluru South✅
Parameshwara commended Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for leading the successful integration of Ramanagara into the Bengaluru South district.
“The government has already approved and issued orders for this change. The identity of a place shifts once it is part of Bengaluru. A similar approach will be explored for Tumakuru,” he added.
Grand 'Welcome' Arch on the Horizon🚧
In a separate initiative, the Home Minister shared that he has requested approval from Union Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to build a grand ‘Welcome’ arch at Tumakuru’s national highway entrance. A budget of ₹5 crore from the Smart City project has been set aside for this symbolic construction.
