PM Modi Lands in Canada for G-7 Summit🌐

Modi Arrives in Canada to Participate in Crucial G-7 Deliberations🌐

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kananaskis, Canada, on Tuesday to attend the G7 Summit, marking his first visit to Canada in a decade.

Focus on Key Global Issues🌐

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, discussions at the Summit will revolve around crucial global challenges such as energy security, technological innovation, and the AI-energy nexus, along with advancements in quantum technologies.

Modi’s Sixth Consecutive G7 Summit✨

This marks Prime Minister Modi’s sixth consecutive participation in the G7 Summit. He arrived in Canada on Monday evening (local time) from Cyprus, following an invitation from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, as part of his ongoing three-nation tour.

Bilateral Meetings on the Sidelines🤝

During his stay, Prime Minister Modi will hold several bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the Summit. These talks come just over a month after India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attacks.

Resetting India-Canada Relations🤝

Prime Minister Carney’s invitation highlights the new Canadian government’s commitment to improving ties with New Delhi, which hit a historic low after Canada’s unfounded allegations concerning the killing of pro-Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Recently, security officials from both countries resumed talks, and both sides are considering appointing new high commissioners to strengthen diplomatic engagement.

Describing India and Canada as “vibrant democracies”, the Ministry of External Affairs noted that the meeting between the two Prime Ministers at the G7 Summit will offer a valuable opportunity to exchange views and “explore pathways” to reset and revitalise bilateral ties.
