Indian businessman Sunjay Kapur has passed away, as confirmed by author and columnist Suhel Seth. Sharing the news on X, Seth wrote, “Deeply saddened at the passing of @sunjaykapur: he passed away earlier today in England. A terrible loss and deepest condolences to his family and to his colleagues @sonacomstar. Om Shanti.”

According to multiple reports, Sunjay Kapur suffered a heart attack while playing polo in the UK. He reportedly collapsed during a match on June 12 and could not be revived.

Sunjay Kapur was a prominent Indian industrialist and the son of Dr. Surinder Kapur, founder of the Sona Group. He served as Chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading global automotive technology company supplying critical systems and components for both electric and conventional vehicles worldwide. He also held the position of President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), playing a key role in shaping India’s auto components sector.

Apart from his corporate achievements, Sunjay Kapur was well known for his high-profile personal life. He was previously married to Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor. The couple tied the knot in 2003 and divorced in 2016. They have two children together, Samaira and Kiaan, and Sunjay was often seen spending time with them in Mumbai.

After his divorce from Karisma, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev, a former model and businesswoman. The couple welcomed a son, Azarias, in 2018.
