India Monitoring Situation in Qatar Amid Iran’s Attack on US Base

New Delhi is closely monitoring developments in Qatar, where more than 830,000 Indians live and work, following Iran’s military strike on a US base in the Gulf nation.

Iran Strikes Al Udeid Air Base💥

On Monday night, Iran announced it had launched an attack on the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military installation in the region. A senior White House official confirmed that Washington was aware of Iran’s intentions to target the base, while an Israeli official also indicated that an attack was imminent.

Indian Embassy Issues Advisory⚠️

In response to the escalation, the Indian Embassy in Doha issued an advisory urging the Indian community to exercise caution.

“In view of the ongoing situation, the Indian community in Qatar is urged to be cautious and remain indoors. Please stay calm and follow local news, as well as instructions and guidance from Qatari authorities. The Embassy will continue to provide updates through our social media channels.”

India shares strong political and economic ties with Qatar and maintains high-level engagement. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Qatar on February 14–15, 2024—his second visit after a state visit to Doha in June 2016.
