New Delhi: Five Air India flights, including the Delhi–Paris AI 143, were cancelled on Tuesday due to safety concerns and operational challenges.

Pre-Flight Checks Trigger Cancellation⚙️

Flight AI 143 was cancelled after mandatory pre-flight checks revealed a technical issue. Consequently, the return service, AI 142 from Paris to Delhi, scheduled for Wednesday, has also been cancelled.

According to the airline, the issue is being resolved, but the delay means the flight would breach night-time operational restrictions at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Earlier the same day, Air India cancelled its Ahmedabad–London Gatwick service, citing unavailability of aircraft due to airspace restrictions and additional precautionary inspections.

These cancellations come just days after the devastating crash of Air India flight AI 171 — a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operating the same Ahmedabad–London route — which crashed seconds after take-off.

Shocking videos showed the plane crashing into buildings near the airport, including a college hostel, before erupting into a fireball that killed 241 of the 242 people on board and 33 people on the ground. This ranks among India’s worst aviation disasters. As a tribute, Air India has retired the AI 171 call sign.

Initial audio and video evidence from the June 12 crash shows that the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) was deployed.
