Gurugram Tragedy: Two Brothers Killed, Third Critical After Policeman’s Speeding Car Runs Over Children💔
The Victims👦
The victims were identified as Mohammad Ayan (13) and Mohammad Ahsaan (9), both students of a government school in Uttawar village. Their younger brother, Mohammad Arjaan (7), is fighting for his life at PGIMS, Rohtak. The three boys were returning home from school, accompanied by their grandfather Aas Mohammad, when the tragedy struck between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm.
The Accused🚔
The car was being driven by Narender Singh, a head constable posted as a reader in the office of the Nuh DSP. Singh, who had recently purchased the vehicle, was reportedly in uniform and heading to his native village, Pahad, nearly 10 km away from the crash site. Witnesses said he was driving recklessly and lost control, veering onto the sidewalk where the children were walking.
Eyewitness Horror👀
According to a devastated Aas Mohammad, “The car suddenly came from behind, climbed onto the side path, and hit the children without slowing down. The driver didn’t stop and sped away.” Locals confirmed Singh appeared drunk and was behaving arrogantly even after being stopped.
Villagers’ Intervention⚡
Outraged villagers chased down the car, intercepted it, and pulled Singh out. He allegedly displayed arrogance, further angering the crowd. Villagers manhandled him and vandalized his brand-new Hyundai Exter, which still bore a temporary registration plate and had plastic-wrapped interiors.
The Rescue Efforts🏥
Villagers rushed the injured children to Nalhar Medical College and Hospital in Nuh using private vehicles. Tragically, Ayan and Ahsaan were declared dead on arrival. Arjaan, in critical condition, was referred to PGIMS, Rohtak, where he remains in intensive care.
Police Statement & FIR📜
DSP (Hathin) Mohinder Singh confirmed the incident, saying the accused was caught by villagers and handed over to police. “Prima facie, it appears he was drunk, though a medical examination is awaited,” he said. An FIR was lodged at Uttawar Police Station under Sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Accountability Concerns⚖️
Despite the gravity of the case, Singh had not been suspended at the time of reporting, raising concerns about accountability when law enforcement officials themselves are involved in such crimes.
Grieving Family💔
For the bereaved family, justice cannot undo the trauma. A heartbroken Aas Mohammad said, “I will never forget the way my grandchildren were flung into the air before my eyes.”
