Serve at Borders, We'll Take Care of Family: NALSA's Legal Aid Scheme for Soldiers
Landmark Initiative for Soldiers' Welfare🛡️
The scheme was officially launched in Srinagar by Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman of NALSA and the incoming Chief Justice of India. The event witnessed the presence of Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Justice Surya Kant was deeply moved by the sacrifices made during Operation Sindoor, which served as the inspiration behind this initiative. The judiciary recognized the immense legal challenges soldiers face, especially while being deployed in remote and high-risk areas.
How the Scheme Works⚙️
Under the Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, NALSA will deploy a network of panel lawyers and para-legal volunteers to support soldier families. Here are the key highlights: 👇
- Free legal representation in court cases across India, so soldiers don’t need to take leave for hearings.🧑⚖️
- Support extends to paramilitary forces like BSF, CRPF, and ITBP facing similar challenges.🪖
- Legal aid clinics will be set up at Sainik Welfare Boards nationwide for better access.🏢
Kargil Vijay Diwas: A Fitting Tribute🎖️
The scheme was launched virtually on Kargil Vijay Diwas (26th July), commemorating 26 years since the 1999 Kargil War victory. 🇮🇳
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute at the National War Memorial in Delhi alongside top military officials. A patriotic padyatra (march) featuring citizens and students echoed with slogans like “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai.” 🎉
Students also performed emotional renditions of “Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon,” honoring the fallen heroes with pride and gratitude. 🎶
A Promise to India’s Protectors💬
The heart of the message is clear and touching: "You serve the nation at the borders; we will take care of your family at home." ❤️
By addressing critical legal issues back home, this scheme allows soldiers to serve with a peaceful mind, knowing that their families are in good hands. 🙏
With this initiative, India takes a proud step forward in honoring the sacrifices of its armed forces—not just in words, but through action. 🇮🇳🫡
