ED Raids 14 Locations in Chhangur Baba Religious Conversion Case🚨

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched searches at 14 locations in connection with the Chhangur Baba religious conversion case. Raids are underway at 12 sites in Utraula, Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh), and two locations in Mumbai. The operation began early this morning at 5 am.

Background: Arrest of Chhangur Baba🔍

These searches follow the recent arrest of Jamaluddin, also known as Chhangur Baba, by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for his alleged role in a mass religious conversion racket.

On July 11, the ATS secured a seven-day remand for Jamaluddin and his aide, Nasreen, to probe their financial networks, illegal properties, and operational methods.

How the Network Operated💡

According to Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order, Amitabh Yash, the group had been operating for over 15 years, employing tactics such as:

• Honey-trapping 🐝
• Administrative pressure 🏢
• Targeting minors 👶

Influential individuals were allegedly enlisted to aid these conversions.

Foreign Funding and Rate Cards💰

“A substantial amount of foreign funding has been traced to this network,” ADG Yash told ANI. Separate rate cards existed for various types of conversions, with funds routed through nearly 40 bank accounts. The ATS is currently tracking these sources.

Victims Speak Out🗣️

PTI reported that some women who had converted to Islam through Chhangur Baba claimed they received threats after returning to Hinduism. One woman stated:

“Abu Ansari introduced himself to me as Amit, and his family posed as Hindus. I first met Chhangur Baba in 2019. The environment was very strange, with only women present, and there was a lot of brainwashing. Chhangur carried out around 5,000 conversions.”

Key Accused👥

Authorities revealed that Jamaluddin’s son, Mehboob, and another individual named Naveen, also known as Jamaluddin, were part of this organised network allegedly converting Hindus and other non-Muslims to Islam.

Demolition of Illegal Structures🏗️

Last Wednesday, illegal structures linked to Chhangur Baba were demolished.
