India Confidently Embracing Aviation Future: PM Modi at IATA AGM 2025

A New Era for Indian Aviation🌍

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the 81st Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in New Delhi on Monday, declared that India is more confident than ever before and ready to embrace 21st-century innovations—including interplanetary travel.

India: Third-Largest Domestic Aviation Market✈️

Speaking at the IATA AGM, held in India for the first time in 42 years, Modi emphasized that India should not only be viewed as a major aviation market, but also as an emerging global leader across the aviation value chain—from design to delivery.

Ready for Interplanetary Travel🚀

“Humans are dreaming of commercializing space flights and interplanetary travels,” Modi said, acknowledging this future is still in development. “But this shows how transformative and innovative the aviation sector is becoming. India is ready for all these possibilities,” he added.

Transformation Under UDAN Scheme📊

Modi highlighted the success of the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, noting that more than 15 million passengers have benefited from affordable regional air travel under this initiative. “This is a golden chapter in Indian civil aviation,” he said.

Innovation, Talent & Policy: India's Aviation Pillars🧠

PM Modi outlined the three foundational pillars propelling India’s aviation growth:

  • Vast Aspirational Market: Not just consumers, but a reflection of India’s ambition.
  • Strong Demographic & Talent Pool: Youth driving innovation in AI, robotics, and clean energy.
  • Supportive Policy Ecosystem: Enabling industrial growth through open and clear policies.

Record Growth & Global Participation📈

India's civil aviation sector is witnessing consistent double-digit growth. With over 240 million annual flyers—more than the entire population of most countries—India is rapidly transforming into a global aviation hub.

Global Aviation Leaders in Delhi👥

The event was attended by Union Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, and key figures from IATA and host airline IndiGo. Over 1,600 participants, including international aviation CEOs, government officials, and media representatives, gathered for the occasion.

India: A Symbol of Innovation and Policy Leadership🚁

“Today’s India is more confident than ever before,” Modi concluded. “In the global aviation ecosystem, we are not just a massive market—we are a symbol of innovation, policy leadership, and inclusive development.”
