NEW DELHI, Sunday: A horrifying crime shook the Dayalpur area of northeast Delhi on Saturday evening when a nine-year-old girl was murdered by her 30-year-old neighbor and her body was found stuffed in a suitcase inside his house, police said.

  • The girl, a Class 5 student, had left home around 7 PM to deliver ice to a nearby relative.

  • On her way, the accused allegedly lured her into his second-floor flat by claiming his house keys had fallen and needed to be returned.

  • When the girl did not return, the family launched a frantic search. A neighbor had seen her enter a nearby building.

  • A man outside the accused's flat misled the family and then fled. Suspicious, the family broke into the flat and discovered a suitcase with the girl's body inside.

Medical Findings🩺

  • The girl was unconscious, partially undressed, and bleeding. She was rushed to a nursing home where doctors declared her dead.

  • Injuries on her face and genitalia suggested sexual assault, and police suspect smothering or strangulation as the cause of death. A final autopsy report is awaited.
