Heavy Rain Floods Hyderabad Roads, Causes Waterlogging in Major Areas🌧️

Disaster Response Force Teams Deployed Amid Renewed Monsoon Activity 🚨

DRF Teams in Action🚒

Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams have been deployed to clear waterlogged areas in localities such as Santosh Nagar and Champapet, following recent heavy rains.

Monsoon Gaining Momentum Again🌦️

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the southwest monsoon, which had stalled for nearly two weeks after an early onset this year, is expected to regain momentum starting Thursday.

Heavy Rainfall Forecast (June 12–15)🌧️

According to the IMD's latest forecast:

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in parts of south peninsular India.⛈️
  • Isolated areas may experience extremely heavy downpours.🌩️
  • Konkan and Goa expected to see intense rainfall on June 13 and 14.🌊

Heat Wave Grips Northwest India🔥

Meanwhile, northwest India continues to reel under heat wave conditions. Severe heat wave pockets, particularly in West Rajasthan, are expected to persist until Thursday, with some relief likely afterward.

Early Monsoon, Record-Breaking May🗓️

The southwest monsoon arrived in Kerala on May 24—the earliest onset over the Indian mainland since 2009, and a full week ahead of the usual June 1 timeline.

May 2025 became the wettest May since records began in 1901, with India receiving an average of 126.7 mm of rainfall. The early monsoon led to continuous rain across southern and eastern India, significantly contributing to this record.

Monsoon Activity Set to Resume🔄

Although the monsoon advanced quickly after its onset, its progress stalled around May 29. However, it is forecast to become active again starting Thursday, according to IMD.

Karnataka on High Alert🌧️

The IMD has issued a seven-day rainfall warning for Karnataka. Nearly all districts are expected to receive "widespread" rainfall until June 17.

The Hubballi region in Dharwad district experienced torrential rain early Thursday, leading to severe waterlogging, particularly in Hanashi village.

Regional Rainfall Forecast📅

  • Coastal and north interior Karnataka: Rainfall will remain widespread through June 17.🌊
  • South interior Karnataka: Rainfall will be fairly widespread until June 14, becoming widespread afterward.🌿
