Iran has assured India of its cooperation to safely evacuate thousands of Indian nationals stuck in different Iranian cities, amid the intense missile exchanges between Israel and Iran. Despite the closure of Iranian airspace, Tehran confirmed that all land borders remain open for evacuations.

In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Minister gave the green light to India’s diplomatic mission and pledged assistance for the safe departure of diplomats and civilians.

“Given the current situation and airport closures, we confirm that all land borders are open for crossing,” the statement read. Iran has asked India to share the names, passport numbers, vehicle details, planned border crossing points, and timings to coordinate safe passage.

Over 1,500 Indian Students Seek Safe Passage🎓

The escalating conflict has left thousands of Indians stranded, including more than 1,500 students, most of whom are from Jammu and Kashmir. With missiles still being exchanged, many families back home are anxiously awaiting updates.

On Monday, India’s Foreign Ministry stated that some students have already been relocated to safer areas within Iran, and other evacuation options are actively under review.

“The Indian Embassy in Tehran is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with students to ensure their safety. Relocation to safer places within Iran is ongoing with Embassy support, and additional options are being explored,” the Ministry said.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran has urged all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin to stay calm, avoid unnecessary movement, and follow safety instructions from local authorities. It shared a Google form link via its official X (Twitter) account for citizens to submit their details to assist with evacuation planning.

A dedicated Telegram channel has also been created to provide real-time updates. The Embassy reminded everyone that this Telegram group is strictly for Indian nationals currently in Iran.

Tensions soared after Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion” on Friday, carrying out a surprise attack that killed key Iranian military leaders and struck nuclear facilities. Iran retaliated with airstrikes, and in the past four days, both nations have exchanged hundreds of missiles.

Israel has indicated that its campaign will intensify, while Iran has vowed to “open the gates of hell” in response.
