In a major move to improve India’s railway infrastructure, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved two critical multitracking projects. These projects will span seven districts across Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, enhancing railway connectivity by 318 kilometers and contributing to the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

Koderma–Barkakana Doubling (133 km) – Jharkhand1️⃣

  • Passes through key coal-producing regions.
  • Creates a shorter, more efficient rail link between Patna and Ranchi.

Ballari–Chikjajur Doubling (185 km) – Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh2️⃣

  • Covers Ballari and Chitradurga (Karnataka) and Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh).
  • Supports regional industries and enhances mobility.
